Review
of Cube Cinema gig 3.9.05 from Venue magazine:
Mole
Harness shows seem to come few and far between these days, so when
given the chance one should cherish them with all the warmth of
the sounds that James Brewster coaxes from his simple guitar/sampler
set-up. Of the gaggle of fledging electronic auteurs
to have emerged in Bristol post-2000 Brewster has arguably blossomed
best, retaining a coherency of direction and clarity of ideas that
others have found elusive. Gone, it seems are the stuttering Detroit
rhythms of his earlier efforts, washed away by an ever keener ear
for gently manipulated sonic texture but with the pensive, autumnal
guitar still intact (by the time Mole Harness plays next that will
probably read ‘glacial’).
